Strategic Talent Management
Strategic Talent Management is the practice of anticipating the talent needs (skills, knowledge, behaviors, and experiences) required for the organization to achieve strategy and goals.
The LaRocque Consulting group will partner with the client to assess and align key talent practices to organizational strategy and objectives including:
- Talent Acquisition

Succession Management
When pivotal roles become vacant, whether leadership roles or key individual contributor roles, there is a potential negative impact on the business when successors have not been identified and developed for those roles. Proactive Succession Management practices enable organizations to identify and develop future leaders and talent, increasing “readiness” to take on those positions and mitigating business risk.
Designing a Succession Management strategy includes:
- The identification of “pivotal roles” within the organization which are critical to achieving business strategy
- Alignment of leadership Skills, Knowledge, Behaviors and Experiences needed in roles to achieve business strategy
- The development of “Success Profiles” for pivotal roles which can be leveraged for successor identification, development and recruiting
- A Succession Management process and tools
Manager and Leader Development
Many managers and leaders begin their careers as subject matter experts and through dedication and hard work are promoted into management and leadership roles. The transition to people management and leadership requires new skills; the ability to motivate, communicate, innovate, develop talent, and think across the organization.
Developing these new skills is not accomplished in traditional classroom or online “training” alone. Development requires experiential learning, coaching, mentoring, feedback, and opportunities to practice these new skills.
LaRocque Consulting Group will work with you to design programs that will:
- Create a blended and experiential learning environment that provides teaching of concepts, coaching, conversation, and practice of the capabilities found in the most effective managers and leaders
- Incorporate qualitative and 360 manager and leader assessments to identify strengths and development opportunities
- Develop managerial courage and executive presence
- Practice coaching and feedback skills for ongoing talent and team development
- Increase “Readiness” for high potential employees and managers who have been identified to be promoted to the next level
High Performing Team Development
Becoming a high performing team requires time, work, and attention. Trust, effective conflict management, open and transparent communication, and common goals and outcomes are fundamental for teams to perform at their best. We work closely with teams to increase trust and address conflict, leverage communication and work style differences, and to create a high performing team.
Team coaching includes:
- Team assessments
- Leveraging team development models, such as The Five Dysfunctions of a Team and The Tuckman Model
- Team retreats and workshops, blending general team building with identifying actional goals and team development opportunities
Leader & Executive Coaching
A coaching relationship is a partnership based on trust that is established to achieve leader- identified professional development goals and outcomes. Engaging a coach provides leaders with support through common challenges and career changes, such as leading organizational change, taking on a more challenging and strategic role, or learning and practicing new effective behaviors and skills.
Finding the “right fit” for a coach is critical to a successful coaching relationship and engagement. Clients will be provided with the option of several experienced certified coaches to find that coaching chemistry.
You can expect the coaching engagement to include:
- Coaching chemistry meetings (no less than 3 coaches to speak with to assess style and fit)
- Leader Assessment (360 assessment and/or self-assessment)
- Assessment Debrief and Development Planning session
- Minimum of 6-month coaching engagement with a regular cadence of coaching meetings
- If applicable, a collaborative goal setting session with the “coachee’s” manager and regular progress check-in’s
Organizational Change Management
Change is hard. Change is inevitable. And most change initiatives fail due to lack of change leadership, employee buy-in, effective communication and planning.
LaRocque Consulting Group can support change efforts by:
- Designing a change, communication, training and sustainment strategy
- Engaging leaders and employees in the change initiative, identifying the barriers to change and solutions to overcome those barriers
- Preparing for the “people side of change”, such as the symptoms of change resistance and how to move employees towards embracing change
- Identifying change management metrics
Organizational Strategy & Design
Many organizations have a mission and vision, but not all have a plan on how to get there. Creating an organizational strategy and designing the organization to align with that strategy are fundamental to success.
We will partner with you to assess your current organization and develop a plan to achieve the vision that you aspire to. This plan will provide the strategic priorities that will inform the culture, talent, skills, and business decisions that will drive business results.
The LaRocque consulting group will lead your organization through this process by:
- Engaging key stakeholders in the Strategy and Design process, through activities such as working sessions, interviews, and surveys
- Facilitating an analysis of your current state leveraging data and input gathered
- Completing a gap analysis and providing recommendations which may include organization design, culture and/or talent, and other supporting processes
- Work with you to develop an action plan to implement the recommendations
